Our commitment to conduct business in an ethical way

Freshview Foods has flourished as a business due our commitment to open, sustainable and ethical business practices. Our approach to being a responsible and sustainable business falls into the following four categories which provide the headline criteria for our CSR related ideas and initiatives:

  • Looking after our people
  • Helping the local community
  • Creating longstanding, committed relationships with our customers
  • Safeguarding the environment

The foundation of our CSR policy lies within our culture and values and our belief in ‘always endeavouring to do the right thing’. We never compromise on our obligations to our employees, customers, the communities in which we work or the wider environment.

People. Protecting the health and safety of our people, our customers and the general public is of paramount importance to us. All staff are onboarded with a thorough induction plan and coached/trained to ensure they have the best possible start to their new career at Freshview Foods. We train all staff in health and safety awareness and the importance of reporting potential hazards. Our people are our future. We have a strong track record of success in attracting talent from diverse backgrounds, providing development opportunities and supporting our people at all stages of their working lives. Freshview Foods promote health and wellbeing for all our people, one example being assisting them with discounted gym membership. The success of the business is shared too, via our company profit share scheme.

Communities. We are proud of our people who go the extra mile to help consumers and members of the public in need and as a business we actively support our chosen charities, The Donna Louise Trust, Douglas Macmillan Hospice, The Hubb Foundation and Multiple Abilities Club. Freshview Foods also make regular contributions to our local food bank. We provide a wider range of opportunities for our people to engage with fundraising events, such as charity fun runs, dress down days in the offices, staff lottery with 50% of the proceeds going to charity to name a few. We strive to improve year-on-year on our charitable donations.

Relationships. Our focus on partnership working with both customers and suppliers provides the foundation of our success. We have a deep-rooted understanding of the needs of our customers and supplier partners, we are clear about our role in supporting each and we are always looking for continuous improvements on all levels of our relationships.

Environment. Reducing the strain on natural resources is an environmental necessity and a prerequisite for our business. We make every effort to ensure our buildings are used efficiently, our waste is managed effectively, and our people can operate with as little environmental impact as possible. Examples of our focus are us committing to a significant investment in a purpose built rainwater harvesting system, back hauling to reduce food mileage, our carbon footprint, sending our food waste from our in house prep operation to a contract partner who have an anaerobic digestive plant that turns the waste into electricity, investing in lower emission vehicles, recycling cardboard, using returnable crates for deliveries, working with suppliers with business ethics that mirror ours, sourcing product from as many local growers and producers as possible to reduce the food mileage.
